Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies used on the Octavedrive website, the role each category plays, and the controls available for adjusting them.

A short note before the detail

Cookies are small text records placed on a device by a website. They allow a page to remember small selections between visits, keep a booking form working through its steps, and supply aggregated counts of how the site is read. The Octavedrive website uses a small set of cookies; readers can adjust which categories are active using the controls below.

01 / Background

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file written by the browser at the request of a website. The file usually holds a short identifier and a small amount of context, such as a language code or a session reference. On the next visit, the browser returns that file to the website so the page can pick up where the reader left off.

Cookies do not collect personal data on their own. The Octavedrive site uses cookies for functional reasons, such as keeping the booking enquiry form working, and for reading aggregated traffic patterns that help the office understand which pages are read most.

02 / Categories

Cookie categories

Essential

Always on

Keep the basics working — booking form steps, consent state, security session signals.

Examples: session id, consent record

Optional

Supply aggregated counts of page visits and reading flow. No personal profile is built.

Examples: _ga, _gid (Google Analytics)

Marketing

Optional

Support occasional retargeting messages tied to the Octavedrive office offerings. Turned off by default.

Examples: ad partner identifiers

Preferences

Optional

Remember small selections such as section reading order or preferred currency display.

Examples: ui_pref, lang_pref

03 / Your controls

Cookie preferences

Adjust the toggles below to update which cookie categories are active. Selections are stored on the device and apply across the Octavedrive website.

Essential cookies

Always on. Needed for the booking form, consent record, and basic security.

Analytics cookies

Aggregated traffic readings that help the office tidy up popular pages.

Marketing cookies

Used for retargeting messages about Octavedrive rental plans on partner sites.

Preference cookies

Remember small selections that personalize page reading.

04 / Third parties

Third-party services

Some cookies are placed by partner services rather than by the Octavedrive office directly. Where active, these include:

  • Google Analytics — aggregated traffic patterns. Activated only with analytics consent.
  • Map provider — the embedded directions widget on the home page.
  • Social media platforms — only triggered if a reader follows an outbound link from the site.

06 / Browser-level controls

Managing cookies in your browser

In addition to the controls above, browser-level settings give a second layer of control. Each major browser offers ways to block, allow, or remove cookies, and to set per-site exceptions.

Google Chrome
  1. Open the three-dot menu and choose Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy and security, then Cookies and other site data.
  3. Pick a default behaviour, or add per-site exceptions.
  4. To remove cookies, choose See all site data and permissions.
Mozilla Firefox
  1. Open the hamburger menu and choose Settings.
  2. Open the Privacy & Security tab.
  3. Under Cookies and Site Data, pick a level or open Manage Data.
  4. Use Clear Data to remove stored cookies.
Apple Safari
  1. Open Safari, then Settings (or Preferences).
  2. Open the Privacy tab.
  3. Adjust Cookies and website data settings.
  4. Use Manage Website Data to remove entries by site.
Microsoft Edge
  1. Open the three-dot menu and choose Settings.
  2. Open Cookies and site permissions.
  3. Choose Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  4. Set a default behaviour or add per-site rules.
Mobile browsers

Mobile browsers offer similar cookie controls under their Settings menu. Look for a Privacy section, then a Cookies entry. Updates may be required for the latest behaviour to appear.

07 / Rights

Your rights

  • Withdraw consent at any time using the toggles above, or by clearing cookies in the browser.
  • Request a summary of which cookies are active and what role they play.
  • Note that turning off some categories may reduce small comforts on the site, such as remembered selections; the booking form remains usable with essential cookies alone.
  • Contact the office at [email protected] for questions about a specific cookie or for help adjusting the controls.
